Valley Serenade in Prime Cadence
94.1 cm x 564.6 cm - digital painting on linen
This triptych is born out of the study of urban ecology – in particular the Don Valley ravine system that the new Bridgepoint Hospital overlooks. The composition is inspired by divergent flow of energies – movements and intersections that come together to bring forth the transitory rhythms of life. “Prime” refers to prime numbers 17 and 23 that I utilized within a grid system to establish juxtaposing cadences that in concert with colour, speak to qualities of beat, meter and harmonic values.
Special thanks to Carlyle Design Associates who developed the first phase of Bridgepoint’s public art program. Best wishes to Bridgepoint Health as they settle into their fabulous new facility!
