Watershed Consciousness 2

Most of Toronto’s watersheds are fed by headwaters in the Oak Ridges Moraine, located to the north of the city. They all drain to Lake Ontario, making life possible in the distinctive manner that characterizes the Greater Toronto bioregion. When you are at the sculpture, you are standing in the watershed of the Don River.

Toronto’s watersheds suffer from pollution that is carried with storm water run-off from hard urban surfaces. Evergreen is committed to reducing this pollution, which degrades Lake Ontario, the source of the region’s drinking water.
