Rhythms and Resonance

282.3 cm x 282.3 cm x 15 cm   digital painting on linen

This triptych is born out of the study of urban ecology – in particular Toronto’s Don Valley ravine system. Compositions are inspired by divergent flow of energies – movements and intersections that bring forth the transitory rhythms of life. Prime refers to prime numbers 17 and 23 that I utilized within a grid system to establish juxtaposing cadences that in concert with colour, work to create beat, meter and harmonic values.

RHYTHMS AND RESONANCE is a series of works rooted in a musical sensibility. The compositions visually distill meter, beat and harmonic values and explore the relationship between movement, repetition and rhythm.
